Lipolysis, or fat removal, consists of injection of substances that literally dissolve the fat and allow it to be digested by the body. It can be carried out for people with small fat pads and cellulite, and is particularly suitable for those who do not want to have surgery or lipo-suction, but who want to change their contours slowly and unobtrusively. This treatment is always done in conjunction with simultaneous slimming mesotherapy treatments.
The problem areas and regions of the body that can be tackled include:
- A double chin and sagging lower jaw;
- A bull neck;
- The upper arms;
- Love handles;
- The hips;
- The upper and lower abdomen;
- Banana rolls;
- Saddle bags;
- The thighs.
For the lipolysis, fat-dissolving substances are injected quite deeply, and although a mild discomfort may be felt, overall the treatment is almost painless. The slimming mesotherapy is applied with the usual mesotherapy technique of multiple shallow injections of a slimming cocktail into the skin of the targeted area.
Following treatment, the body’s contours change slowly, with the results potentially long-lasting. The first changes become visible about 10 days after treatment, but the fat breakdown process is most active from the sixth week onwards.
Treatment sessions
Normally, at least two sessions are needed per region of the body, with an interval of 6-8 weeks between each session. In some people four sessions per region may be needed. Some post-treatment care is needed, which can be done by the person themselves. Instructions on what to do and how to do it are provided.
Because this treatment is only intended for relatively small patches of fat, removal of these does not result in significant weight loss. So if the person is overweight or obese, these treatments need to be coupled with changes to diet and lifestyle.
Possible side-effects frequently include some redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites.
It is strongly recommended that this lipolysis treatment be combined with a number of mesotherapy lift and firming sessions between the lipolysis sessions.
